| I see more knee pain here in Malaysia in one day than I saw in a month anywhere else I've ever practiced Chiropractic. The reason? Bad footwear. People are wearing "flip-flop" sandles or high heeled shoes or just shoes that are in such a sorry state that they should have been replaced a year ago.
The Kinetic Chain of the skeleton illustrates that all parts in the human body are connected. It's a big balancing act. If one part of the body doesn't move correctly, other parts are affected. If the feet don't move right, everything doesn't move right to some degree.
The diagram on the right illustrates what happens when the foot pronates. Pronation comes from either a flat foot or bad foot wear and it is made worse by walking on hard surfaces. Pronation results in the knee wearing down. On an x-ray this shows as uneven space between the sides of the knee joint.
How to fix or better yet, prevent this problem? First, wear good footwear. A shoe with a solid build and a wide toe box. Orthotics should be worn at all times. Wear orthotic sandles in the house.
Secondly, take a Glucoseamine & Chondroiten containing supplement to protect your cartilage. We use MoveFree by Schiff. This protects and repairs cartilage.
